Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School was founded in 1966 in Madras, now known as Chennai. The school is recognized as being the first Central Board of Secondary Education school in Chennai.

The school has evolved to have three more educational institutions: Asan Memorial Matriculation School, Asan Memorial College and Asan Memorial State Board School.

The school's current principal is Mrs. Suma Padmanabhan, and the vice principal is Mr. Ramesan. The school has 100 or more best trained teachers both in the Primary and Senior Sections. The school has some specialist teachers, such as Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and Mr. John Kennedy. It has also produced some teachers, like Mr. Sridhar, Miss Sunitha (currently the Principal of Matriculation School) etc. It has also achieved in sports, especially in athletics, volleyball and Kho-Kho. The physical directors, Mrs. Bhavani and Mr. Murugeshan, have done a lot to help the students in these activities.
