I recently came across many US colleges who offer "Alumni Vacations" to exotic locations. This is typically targeted towards families and older alumni who can use this opportunity to explore new places along with old friends and others, who you might not know, bu they share a similar background and mindset - well that's the idea atleast. Most importantly, this becomes a new revenue source for the school/college and helps strengthen the ties with the school and alumni - which, again, translates to more money in the future :)
I thought this would be interesting for Mayo and other Indian schools, colleges as well.
Thoughts anyone?

Interesting concept but I think I've given enough money to my school and college for now! :) Right now I have to concentrate on getting a job once I graduate next year!! Like you said, its probably better for older alumni but I think they would want to spend their vacations with people they know.

the idea is good. what stands in the way of one seeing india or the world is the prohibitive accommodation costs which run @ a 1000 to 2000 rs a day. if friends cn offer accommodation at moderate levels, say rs 500 per diem, it wd b excellently beneficial to both the guests and the hosts. i wish some one with initiative and drive organise this idea into a successful business model, a kind of paying guest arrangement. at present there do exist some such arrangements but one doesn't know much abt them beyond vague info. good publicity is needed which shdn't b difficult in these browsing / blogging era. forums like these wd greatly help in promoting this idea.
