Greetings from the Chennai chapter of the alumni association of NIT (erstwhile REC) Calicut. Wish you all a very happy X’mas and New year.Get together a group of ex NITians / RECCAites and you can be sure of one thing – they will unanimously agree that some of the best years of their lives were spent in the hallowed precincts of the alma mater. It is a fact that along with the intricacies of engineering, we have learnt something much more in the alma mater. It has provided us the foundation to learn what life really is to tackle the ups and downs, to separate the grain from the chaff, to make numerous friends and retain their friendship for life, to love, laugh, console, condone and most importantly, to live life at the fullest.Friends, we are indeed a privileged lot. It is with pride that we proclaim to the world that we are from one of the foremost institutions of the country. It is no surprise therefore, to note that every major town in the country and many abroad have very active alumni associations. The spirit of comraderie is passed onto our families, thereby passing on a glorious tradition to the newer generations. The various alumni associations the world over have in their own way succeeded in bringing together like minded people….It is often said that the entire world is a global village these days. Keeping this concept in mind, our friends in the Middle East organised a “World RECCAA Meet” in Muscat in 2001. This meet was a great success, thanks to whole hearted support from NITians / RECCAAites from across the globe.Yes… it is now time to catch up with our friends from the world over. We at Chennai, would like to play host to the global NITians/ RECCAites during 28th, 29th & 30th December 2007. We plan to hold the 2nd World Meet in Chennai and look forward to participation in large numbers. Needless to say, your family members should form an essential part of the meet.While we shall inform you the exact programme upon finalisation, this letter is to inform you in advance so that you may make your plans suitably.
